Canadians Plan to Withdrawl

"Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Defence Minister Peter MacKay have said they felt no pressure from either Washington or London to stay in Kandahar, and that allies respected Parliament’s decision to leave."
Although it appears some pressure may have been taken into account when concerning the Canadian troops in Afghanistan, I think Harper sincerely wants the troops to remain in Kandahar for good reasons. Harper agrees that we need to help impoverished nations, like Afghanistan, build a strong political system in order to control the problems and attacks that are apparent in their country. With Canada by their side, Afghanistan is on it's way to re-developlemt and re-construction which will help enhance the nations authority significantly.
